I am currently paneled with Aetna, Ambetter, Premera, First Choice & Regence of WA which includes some BCBS plans. We use Headway as often as possible to run your insurance benefits to see what options you have with your insurance plan. You can always create a free Headway account and see what your potential cost for services could be.

If you don’t have any of these insurance options, or prefer the anonymity of private pay, we can also provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement.

**Please note- couples therapy is not covered by all plans. Please contact your insurance provider to check or we can use an HSA or provide superbills as an additional option.

What is a super bill?

A super bill is an invoice of all paid sessions a client can submit to their insurance company directly for potential reimbursement.

How do I get on your waitlist?

If the waitlist is currently open, then please send me your preferred contact info: Full Name, Email, Preferred Phone # and I will send you an invitation to Simple Practice. There you will receive the Waitlist form.

Once completed, you will be added to the waitlist and we will reach out if/when an opening within your preferred request becomes available.

How does tele-therapy work?

Tele-therapy has become increasingly popular since the pandemic began. People who lead busy lives tend to not have access to services due to commutes, not finding a therapist they like in their local city, lack of child care, and many other reasons. Tele-therapy is provided on a HIPAA Compliant video platform (just like an online doctors visit). Your therapist will suggest you have sessions in a quiet room where you can be alone and close the door.

Why does therapy cost so much?

When you think about anyone you employ in your life, and cross reference them to the cost of therapy, it makes more sense. Therapist's dedicate years to developing their skills and education. This education is required to maintain and continue growing as part of our licensure requirements. All of this creates a "curve" of pricing in each local area depending on licensure, experience, availability, and several other factors.

What is your style of therapy?

I thought you'd never ask! I am a systemic-feminist therapist, meaning I believe the systems, cultures, roles, hierarchies, relationships, narratives, and many other things influence our mental health symptoms. I formulate personalized treatment plans based on client's individual needs and presenting problems.

To sum up my style in a few words: directive, inquisitive, thoughtful, creative & sprinkled with humor (when appropriate).

My style draws from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Trauma Focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, DBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Health At Every SIZE (HAES), Attachment theory, Gottman couples, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Discernment, and several other areas of therapy. I strive to be culturally competent and affirming; and LGBTQIA+ ally, poly knowledgable!

I currently hold additional education credits in TF-CBT, Gottman Level 1 Couples Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Suicide Prevention Support, ADHD & Professionalism, and am a Certified Grief Informed Professional Counselor.

What is your current license?

My professional title is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (#61503038), Certified Tele-therapy Provider in Idaho (MBTMFT - 10292). I also am a Certified ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (#904879), Certified Grief Informed Professional Counselor ( Former Cert. #488946) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy: Level 1 Certification.

What does an Intake Session look like?

This may differ from provider to provider. Here at Koger Counseling, once you have decided to book an intake session you will receive the New Client Intake Paperwork. Then, in the session you will review your therapy goals, symptoms you hope to get support with, and start getting to collaborate with your provider. At the end of the session, your therapist will check in about if you feel comfortable choosing them as your therapist or if you prefer a different style of therapy. (Please note intakes are paid sessions)

What is the Good Faith Estimate?

The Good Faith Estimate is a document listing expected charges before you get an item or service. This is not a bill, but an estimate of your cost per session for services. For Simone, individual sessions are $160 per 50 minutes and couples sessions are $170 per 50 minutes. If you are a current client, you have received a personalized GFE. If you have questions regarding this document please let Simone know.

Do you see clients after 5 pm?

Yes! I do have openings after 5 pm, Mondays, Tuesdsays & Thursdays. If you are inquiring to book a session please email me to see if there are current openings.

Do you see clients before work hours?

I see clients as early as 9 am Wednesdays. Please inquire if you are in a helping profession & might need earlier times than what is listed.

How long are therapy sessions?

Traditional therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and depending on the frequency that works with your goals- you will discuss cadence of sessions (weekly, bi-weekly, etc) with your therapist. I offer 90 minute sessions for long term clients who want to dive deeper into their work in a condensed period of time.

Do you see clients in person?

Yes, I see clients at my in person office in Puyallup Mondays 12 pm - 6 pm.

Downtown Office

What accommodations am I getting with Koger Counseling?

My clients have access to my schedule 2 days and up to 2 months in advance via their Client Portal access. This gives people the freedom to book, reschedule, or cancel sessions within the 48 hour cancellation policy.

The Client Portal allows you to choose the cadence of reminder notifications you receive and how you receive them (email or text).

Additionally, we have the cutest snack trolly at my in person office- filled with 90’s style snacks, water, and art supplies!

Do you provide crisis support?

No, Koger Counseling is not a crisis support service. If you are looking for Domestic Violence Support Click: DomesticShelters.org. If you are looking for Crisis Support Click Here for Hotlines, Text Resources in WA.

Are you an Eating Disorder Therapist?

No. I have additional trauma, grief and ADHD certifications, but I am not certified to provided eating disorder therapy. Generally, if someone is looking for support with trauma work & eating disorder support- it can be helpful to have one therapist to focus on ED work and one for navigating trauma- this wellness team style can be more effective & lead to faster changes in a persons wellness goals.

What if I don't like my current therapist's approach?

That is okay! Not every therapist is for every person. Let them know you want to make a change and do it! Most therapists understand how important the connection you build with your provider can be to the outcome of therapy.

Be brave & share that you wish to end services and if they are like us, they will offer referrals & provide resources so you can find someone that fits better with your wants/needs.

I am nervous for my Intake Session, What Can I Do?

No worries! It is a big step to try therapy and an even bigger step to find the right clinician for you! Feel free to check out our brief blog, What to Bring to Virtual Therapy if you want a few ideas of how to start off. This is a big deal, and we don’t take that lightly.
