Walking has been shown to improve mental health symptoms

Walk Talk Individual Therapy— $120 for 45 minute sessions

Coming available May 2024!

With walk talk therapy you can “talk it out” while we “walk it out”. Studies show being outdoors can help diminish many mental health symptoms and increase endorphins which leads to more positive thinking.

Our current location for walk/talk therapy is Chambers Bay in University Place, Tacoma, WA. This is a paved walking path, with ample amounts of parking, and has one large hill that you can choose to do or pass on.

There are many ways to walk these trails and we will go over which option you prefer for your body before sessions. Our pace will be slow and steady to stay focused on the work and benches are available to sit at throughout the trail.

FAQ’s About Walk-Talk Therapy

  • All trails we choose are fully paved to keep this service accessible to as many people as possible. Paved trails also tend to be more safe from tripping- granted I have tripped on flat sidewalk so who really knows..

At Chambers Bay there are several metal benches where we can sit to talk as well.

See outer loop on the map for the most popular trail for our walks.

  • Confidentiality changes when you are utilizing walk-talk therapy. Keep in mind that your confidentiality will be limited depending on things outside our control such as how populated the trails are and the time of day.

This is STILL therapy, not coaching, and not a casual walk.

For more information please review your intake paperwork and ask your therapist.

  • While walk-talk therapy might sound fun, it is not a service that will fit all client’s needs. Your therapist will review if this option is clinically recommended.

  • It is each individual client’s responsibility to consult with their physician and mind-body connection in regard to their ability to participate in walk-talk therapy.

Therapists are not medical professionals/physicians. All clients are in charge of their own health risks and medication management (eg. carrying epi-pen, sunscreen, medications, water, etc).

Please consult your physician and bring any items you may need to carry on you while we walk.

  • While it may be tempting to bring along your furry friends to walk-talk therapy, to minimize distractions we currently ask you leave them at home.

This trail can have native animals and pets nearby, and the less distracting it is the more focused we can be.

  • Pricing for walk-talk sessions is the same as tele-therapy rates. Late cancellation policies still apply.

Please note if you do try to submit claims to your insurer you will need to check if this service is covered.

  • In Washington our weather can be variable. If there are drastic weather conditions, we will regroup and talk about rescheduling or remaining on tele-therapy for the day.

Every day is different, so we will keep coordination in mind and your therapist will notify you promptly if any changes in weather occur.

We will not hold walk-talk therapy if extenuating circumstances such as air quality, excessive snow, excessive rain, etc occur.

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to park and connect with your therapist. Sessions are a little bit longer than standard 45 minutes to accommodate for being outdoors and potential moments of distraction (eg. cute dogs). We will plan our route, and make sure it be back at vehicles close to the 45 minute mark to accommodate other appointments.

Our cancellation policy is 48 hours notice for this service due to logistics.
